Chrome Browser Will Be Equipped with AI Gemini Nano, Here's Its Function

AI is the main topic at Google I/O 2024, various Google products will be strengthened by AI, including the Chrome browser for desktops.

Starting from Chrome 126, Gemini Nano will be strengthened for light on-device AI features, for example text creation, as quoted by from The Verge, Wednesday (15/5/2024).

Gemini Nano is Google's large language model (LLM) which was first introduced on the Pixel 8 Pro 2023, and then also presented on the Pixel 8. Especially for Chrome, Google modified and optimized the LLM so that it can run smoothly in the browser.

So what is the function of the Gemini Nano? The main function is creating text, for example product reviews, social media posts, and so on. Microsoft has also presented the same thing through the AI ​​Copilot assistant for Edge since 2023. The difference is, Copilot runs via the cloud, while Gemini Nano operates locally, i.e. data processing is done on the user's device.

Google also announced that Gemini will be available in Chrome DevTools, which is usually used by developers to test and manage their applications. Gemini can provide explanations for error messages that appear in the application, as well as provide suggestions for correcting the line of code that is causing the problem.

Gemini and AI were the main topics of conversation in the Google I/O 2024 keynote, and in fact -- according to Google --, the word "AI" was mentioned 120 times in the approximately 2-hour keynote, or an average of once every minute. .
